My final year project is based on the detection of diabetes as well as other health issues through a retinal image obtained through a fundus camera.

The image above is of retinal image taken through a fundus camera at Sankalp Hospital. All the images used for this project were obtained from various clinical centers and are authenticated.
Going on with the project
I had to develop an algorithm for the detection of various disorders in the eye that lead to symptoms of diabetes in a patient. Microaneurysms, haemorrhages, exudates, and cotton wool spots would have to be detected and thus used as a proof of potential diabetes in a patient.
I also have to develop a GUI in order for faster computational results of the imported images. Also, not only will it detect diabetes, but also cardiovascular risks, age, biological sex, smoking, BMI and systolic blood pressure.
